Day as a Flower Farmer FAQ

What time of day are flower farmer hours?
We will try to do flower farming on Saturdays but occasionally they will be done on other days due schedules and rising summer temps. The hours will rotate between morning or evening times. If you wish to come out more than once a month we can arrange a time.

We would love to have you on the farm as often as you can.

Do I have to come to every Flower Farmer Day?

No, you do not have to come to every Flower Farmer Day. We would love to have you come and learn all you can to help your flowers thrive but we understand that sometimes it can be hard to balance schedules.

What kind of activities are done on a Flower Farmer Day?

While we will have time for the more glamorous part of flower farming many activities we do are less instagram worthy then harvesting bunches of flowers.  Each day will have something different but some activities will include learning the importance of weed management, why mulching plants can be important, direct planting seeding vs indoor planting, dead heading, why releasing beneficial bugs can help, and in what ways we can meet all the different needs of the individual plants.

What should I wear?
The Potted Blossom is a working flower farm. Please wear closed toed shoes. We also recommend wearing light fabrics to protect from the heat and sun. While you can wear shorts, depending on the time of day we do have very friendly mosquitos and we recommend wearing pants.

What should I bring?
We will provide water and snacks and you are welcome to bring additional drinks and snacks. You will need to bring your signed Potted Blossom Flower Farmer Release Form.
A few other things we recommend you bring are:
-Sunscreen
- Work Gloves
-Hat
-Sunglasses
-Bug Spray

Who can be a flower farmer?
Anyone 18+ and those 15-17 with parent/guardian permission, who are in good health are able to volunteer. Those wishing to be flower farmers for a day that are between the ages of 8-15 may do so with their parent or guardian present.
